APPLICATIONS

The aerospace and defense industry uses mica for highly specialized applications. Mica is found in components of air/ground/sea-launched missile systems, radar systems and other devices. Thin mica is stable in micrometre-thin stage, making it relatively transparent to radiation while remaining impregnable by most gases. High temperature and fire-resistant power cables are used in various plants and circuits such as defense systems, alarm systems and surveillance systems. Defense is a leading area where mica taped cables are used for critical tasks like firefighting and retarding. The high temperature of mica makes it an ideal element used for protection against fire.
