APPLICATIONS

Mica plays a significant role in improving productivity foundry and steel industry. Mica’s slip qualities increase the longevity of furnace linings which protect the furnace and aid thermal management. The application of mica also aids in warning about the risk of damage to the furnace ahead of time.  Due to its low thermal conductivity, it is used in various metal industries as parts of heaters, boilers, lumber kilns, metal smelters and furnace wiring. Specific grades of mica insulated wires continue to function for 15 minutes in high temperatures of molten metal such as aluminum& mercury. The casting industry uses flexible mica sheets during pouring of liquid metal, to safeguard the process from any accidental mishap.
